What's Left After "Send to Wix": Turning a Claude Design Page Into a Finished Site

Send to Wix puts one Claude Design page live, but it isn't a finished site. See what you still do yourself (auth, SEO, no editor) and when to get help.

Claude Design Wix Headless sounds finished the moment you press Send to Wix. One page can go live on Wix-managed hosting. Wix's own docs still say the site isn't fully set up. We walk through what the button deploys, what it leaves on you, and how to decide what to finish yourself.

Short answer: Claude Design's "Send to Wix" puts one HTML page live on Wix-managed headless hosting, but Wix's docs say the site "isn't fully set up." There's no Wix Editor, authentication is on you, and SEO stays your job on this route. DIY if one page is enough; bring in a designer or developer when the site needs to grow.

Facts below are as of Oct 1, 2026, re-checked against Claude Help Center and Wix docs. Want a second pair of eyes before you press the button? Start at web design.

What "Send to Wix" actually puts online (Claude Design Wix Headless)

Claude Design is in beta on Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise. It is not on Free. Design activity shares your plan's usage pool — Claude's Help Center says there's no separate Claude Design allowance. On Enterprise it stays off until an owner turns it on.

Headless, in one sentence: Wix hosts your frontend and runs the business backend (Stores, Bookings, CMS, and similar), while you keep the design in Claude Design or in code instead of a classic Wix page editor.

Wix's Send a Claude Design to Wix docs describe the button path:

  • It deploys one HTML page. Wix's words: "Send to Wix deploys only one HTML page, so extra pages aren't included." Design as a single page with in-page navigation.
  • Wix creates a wix.config.json, uploads your files, and hosts them with SSL, CDN, and business APIs configured.
  • The result is live at once. Wix still says: "Your site is now live, but it isn't fully set up."
  • You need a Wix account. The design lands as a new site you manage from the Wix dashboard.

Wix's Help Center opens with a caveat: "Wix Headless is not currently available to all users." The criteria are not published on that page.

Claude Design Wix Headless starts as one live page plus unfinished setup — not a multi-page site ready for every business tool.

What you don't get: no Wix Editor, and authentication is on you

The button hosts the page. The rest is still a sketch until someone finishes it.

Same Wix docs, same route:

  • No Wix Editor or Wix Studio. You change the design in Claude Design or in your local project's code.
  • Business content — products, bookings, blog posts, forms, members — is edited in the Wix dashboard with no code, and those updates can appear without a republish.
  • Authentication is on you. Wix's words: "Wix hosts and runs your site, but it doesn't handle authentication for you." You (or an AI coding agent) create a Wix client. Chat apps such as Claude.ai or ChatGPT can't complete this step. A coding agent on your machine, or a developer, can.
  • Wix says to expect at least one more round with the agent to wire business solutions (Stores, Bookings, CMS, Forms). If store or blog content doesn't show, Wix points back to auth setup.

We are not giving an exact click path. Labels differ across Wix docs, Wix's blog, and Claude's Help Center. Use the Send to Wix option in Claude Design's export/share menu, then follow Wix's Step 2 on the success page.

The button hosts the page. Auth, agent setup, and business-tool wiring are still a separate job.

Headless button or Harmony connector? Pick the route first

Two different "Wix" paths show up in Claude, and they are not the same outcome.

  1. Claude Design → Send to Wix — Wix-managed headless. One HTML page from the button. No Wix Editor. Code/agent workflow for the rest.
  2. Wix connector in Claude → Wix Harmony — a real Wix Harmony site you keep editing with drag-and-drop and Aria AI.

Wix's own Claude Design guide (cited by name; not linked here) says: pick Claude Design when the design is the point and one page is enough; pick the connector when you want to keep editing on Wix afterward. We found no one-click Claude Design → Harmony path. If you want the editable AI-builder route instead, see our Wix Harmony vs Framer AI vs Squarespace comparison.

SEO stays your job on this Claude Design Wix Headless route

Wix's Claude Design guide (Sep 17, 2026) says: "SEO stays your job on this route." Per Wix's SEO support docs, full SEO automation — injecting tags into <head>, serving robots.txt and sitemap.xml — is documented for Wix-managed headless projects built with the Astro integration. Outside Astro, Wix "doesn't inject any tags into your <head>, and doesn't serve robots.txt or sitemap.xml for you." Claude Design is listed under other frameworks in Wix's supported-frameworks table.

Inference (A components, combined reading): for the Claude Design button route, title, meta, structured data, sitemap, and robots are not auto-managed by Wix's Astro SEO layer. Ask for a proper title, meta description, and sensible heading structure while you are still designing. We are not claiming what the button-deployed page's default title or meta is, or how Google treats the default host URL — those are not found in the docs we checked.

The one-way door: when Send to Wix starts a second site

Per Wix's Help Center and the sync docs:

  • If only Claude Design has published, Send to Wix again updates the same live URL.
  • After an AI coding agent or the Wix CLI publishes, Send to Wix creates a new site. The original keeps running.

Decide up front: keep Claude Design as your editor for as long as that update path lasts, or move to code knowing the button will fork. Claude Design has no version history yet (beta limit in Claude's Help Center). For the broader lock-in question — when a builder stops fitting — see when page builders become a trap. We are not calling Wix or Claude Design a trap. We are saying the update path changes after the first agent/CLI publish.

Wix documents a way to republish from the local project.

DIY, hire, or both? A five-question self-check

Five questions. No score. Just an honest read on what's still on your list.

The Claude Design vs hiring a designer question is not either/or. Wix's Headless cost blog (cited by name only) treats agencies and freelancers as Headless users — each client site its own Wix project. Inference: hiring help can be the same Headless path, not a walk away from it.

Answer these for yourself. No score. No threshold. This block is CD's view, not a vendor claim.

  1. Is one page enough for what this business needs to do online right now?
  2. Do you (or someone you trust) own the auth and business-tool step, or will it stall there?
  3. Who owns title, meta, headings, schema, sitemap and robots after launch? Is that a named person?
  4. Will you keep changing the design over time, and are you comfortable doing it in Claude Design or code rather than a visual editor?
  5. If the positioning, structure or proof of the site isn't settled yet, do you want a second pair of eyes before the button, not after?

If you answered "no" or "not sure" to several, that is the moment to get a designer or developer involved. For planning ranges (no numbers repeated here), see our small business website cost guide. For a sibling decision frame on another AI builder, see WordPress.com AI theme vs hiring a designer.

Does Wix handle SEO for a Claude Design page?

Per Wix's guide and docs, SEO stays your job on this route. Wix's SEO automation is documented for its Astro integration. Claude Design is listed under other frameworks.
